For municipal wastewater operators in the UK and Europe, implementation of the Water Framework Directive requires them to meet stringent effluent standards. In order to do this, many operators have concentrated on using high-tech and energy-intensive solutions for wastewater treatment. However, in the face of electricity price hikes, the drive to reduce carbon impact and to keep costs low for the customer, the wastewater industry must revisit its’ approach and look for innovative, lower energy solutions that can be utilized within the planning, design and management of wastewater assets.
This unique international summit will assess the technical capacity and environmental impacts of the spectrum of wastewater treatment technologies and examine the practical issues and challenges for regulators and operators in setting and meeting consent standards. The summit will also provide invaluable benchmarks for wastewater asset managers in managing the asset condition, capacity and performance of the sewerage network including the identification and remediation of assets in poor condition before a flood or pollution event occurs.
By hearing a range of UK and overseas case studies and practical examples, delegates at the summit will be able to:
- Develop Benchmarks from both UK and International Water Companies to Assess and Measurably Improve the Asset Condition of the Sewerage Network; and Control its’ Impact on Customers and the Environment
- Evaluate the Spectrum of Conventional and Unconventional Technologies for Wastewater Treatment Systems and their Relative Advantages in terms of Effluent Standards and Energy Efficiency
- Optimise the Design, Maintenance and Management of Wastewater Treatment Systems and Processes to Meet Tighter Consents Without Producing Environmental Disbenefit
